Why Rasterdeck Translator

Every other translator on the Play Store shovels your conversations through someone else's servers and bills you monthly for the privilege. This one doesn't do either.

100% local

All translation, transcription, and synthesis happens on your phone. Airplane mode works. The Faraday cage works. Your conversations stay where you had them.

Speak, then hear the translation

Push to talk, then hear the translation out loud — in your own voice, in the target language. Turn-based, so each side gets a clean take.

Per-speaker voice cloning

No setup, no enrollment, no 'sample your voice first.' The app clones every speaker on the fly as they talk, in 28 languages. A two-person conversation actually sounds like two people having a conversation — each one in their own voice, in whichever language the other person needs to hear.

No accounts, ever

The app doesn't have a login screen. After a one-time model download, it runs on-device — the only network use is fetching models, a one-time activation check, and verifying purchases. No login, no telemetry.

No tracking, no telemetry

No analytics. No crash reports phoning home. No 'anonymous usage statistics.' We don't even know if you opened it today. We couldn't bill you monthly if we wanted to.

Pay once, own it

Buy only what you need — unlocks start at $2.99, the whole feature set is $24.99, once. No subscription, no renewal, no expiry, no 'free trial that auto-converts.'

Photo translation (camera)

Point your camera at a menu, sign, or document — your phone reads and translates it on-device, fully offline, in 40 languages. It can even read a menu item aloud in the local language — in your own voice — so you can order exactly what you want without stumbling over the pronunciation.

Free to try. Buy only what you need.

Every unlock is one-time — unlimited for the lifetime of your phone. No subscription. No renewal. No expiry.

Unlock Everything

One code activates one phone, once — permanently. Codes are delivered instantly and by email.

Upgrading phones someday? Verified customers get 50% off a new code once their purchase is a year old. A phone upgrade every few years at half price still annihilates any subscription.

Compare: a typical translation-app subscription runs $60–120 per year, forever.

How "100% local" actually works

A claim like "no data collection" is easy to say. Here's exactly what happens on your phone — and what doesn't.

Audio you speak into the mic

Stays in RAM on your device. Used for transcription, then discarded. Never written to disk, never transmitted.

The translation itself

Computed by an on-device neural model. The phone does the work. No round-trip to a server.

Voice cloning audio

Each speaker's voice is cloned on the fly, in RAM only, as they talk. Nothing is saved — the same audio that drives transcription drives the clone. When the translation finishes playing, the voice fingerprint is gone.

Your translation history

We don't keep one. The app doesn't either, by default. You can opt into a local history if you want — it's stored on your device only.

Network use: setup, activation, purchases

The app downloads its translation models once, makes a one-time HTTPS request to activate your unlock code, and verifies purchases. Those are the only times it touches the network — never your conversations. After setup, translation works fully offline.

What we store about your purchase

Your checkout email + a hash of your code + the payment transaction ID. Used solely for code recovery, refunds, and your returning-customer discount — never marketing. Prefer anonymity? Buy with a burner address; it works exactly the same.

What we never store

The contents of any translation. The languages you use. Where you are. What you say. We can't store what we never see.

Questions

How does the free trial work?
Download the app free from Google Play — no signup, no account. Typed text translation is free forever, unlimited. Voice translation includes one free test plus 10 free uses, so you can prove the real product works on your phone, in your languages, before paying anything. When the trial runs out, a one-time unlock from $2.99 keeps it running for the lifetime of your phone.
What do the different unlocks do?
Standard ($2.99) removes the voice-translation cap — unlimited use with the standard models (speak-to-translate in 40 languages). Photo Translate ($9.99) adds camera scan-to-translate: point your camera at menus, signs, and documents (40 languages). Pro ($19.99) is unlimited use plus per-speaker voice cloning in 28 languages and upgraded recognition/translation models — better with hard accents, noisy rooms, and uncommon vocabulary. Everything ($24.99) is Pro + Photo Translate together, cheaper than buying both. All one-time, all lifetime-of-phone.
Is it really a one-time payment?
Yes. No subscription, no renewal, no expiry, no "free trial that auto-converts." You buy an activation code once and that unlock is yours, unlimited, for the lifetime of your phone. We could not charge you monthly even if we wanted to — the app never talks to our servers after activation.
What does "lifetime of your phone" mean?
Exactly what it says: an activation code unlocks one phone, permanently. Unlimited use, forever, on that device. The code is consumed by activation and cannot be moved to another phone afterward.
Why is a code locked to one phone?
Because the app never phones home. We have no way to deactivate a code, track your devices, or remotely kill anything — so a code activates exactly one phone, exactly once. Every app that offers "sign in to restore purchases" can only do that because it is watching you. This one cannot. The one-phone rule is the price of an app that cannot spy on you, and the proof that it does not.
I got a new phone. Now what?
Your old phone keeps working forever — activation is permanent. The new phone needs its own code. If you bought with a verified email and your purchase is at least 12 months old, you get 50% off the new code automatically at checkout — just verify the same email address. We think that is fairer than a subscription would ever be: a phone upgrade every few years at half price beats paying every month.
I lost my activation code.
Use the Recover page with the email you bought with. If the code was never activated, we permanently invalidate it and email you a fresh one — the lost code becomes useless to whoever finds it. If it was already activated, we re-send it for your records, but it is already bound to your phone, so nobody else can use it anyway. Recovery requires access to your purchase email — if you used a burner address, keep it alive.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — within 14 days of purchase, as long as the code has not been activated. Once a code activates a phone, the sale is final (activation is permanent and irrevocable — there is nothing for us to take back). Refunds go through the email you bought with.
Does the app collect anything at all?
No. After a one-time model download, translation runs entirely on your phone. The only times the app uses the network are downloading the translation models, a one-time activation check when you enter your code, and verifying a purchase — never your conversations. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, and no account. Your conversations are processed in memory on your phone and never written to disk or transmitted anywhere.
How many languages does it support?
It depends on the feature, and we count each one honestly. Text translation: 42 languages. Voice (speak-to-translate): 40. Photo translation: 40. Pro voice cloning: 28. Free spoken playback: 16+ languages, using your phone's own voices, so quality is device-dependent. Every feature runs fully offline, and the free trial lets you hear and see exactly how your languages work on your phone before paying.
Do I have to use my real email?
No. Any address you can receive mail at works — a burner address is completely fine. Your email exists for exactly one reason: it is your proof of purchase, which is what makes code recovery, refunds, and the returning-customer discount possible. Lose access to the address and you lose those three things, so pick one you can keep.
Why buy the unlock here instead of in the app?
App store billing takes up to 30% of every purchase. Selling activation codes on our own site means that money goes to development instead of a platform fee — and it lets us offer things app-store billing cannot, like the returning-customer discount and buying with whatever email address you choose.
How accurate is the translation?
It is the same class of neural model that powers cloud translators, running on your phone instead of someone else's server. For common language pairs it is near parity with the big cloud services. For lower-resource languages it is good but not magic — that is exactly what the free trial is for.
What phone do I need?
Any Android 10+ phone with at least 4 GB of RAM. The voice-cloning models run smoothest on phones from the last three years.
