Prepare Photo Translate before you leave
Photo Translate is included in its own unlock and in the Everything bundle. Complete the app setup, required model downloads and unlock activation while connected. Check that your chosen language supports photo translation; the feature supports 40 languages.
Give the camera readable text
Use even lighting and hold the phone steady. Keep the page or sign as flat and square to the camera as possible. Avoid glare, deep shadows and text that is too small to read. For a long menu, separate sections are easier to inspect than one distant image.
Check the source and target languages
Select the language of the menu or sign and the language you want to read. Inspect the recognized words before relying on the translation: a misread price, name or abbreviation can change the meaning. If text was misread, try a clearer image or type the short passage.
Use spoken output when supported
The app can read translated text aloud where the selected language and installed voice support it. Voice cloning requires Pro and supports a smaller language set than text translation. Try the exact combination on your phone before you need it.
Test without a connection
After setup, switch to airplane mode and turn Wi-Fi off. Try a new menu or sign image and check both the written translation and any spoken output you plan to use. You can still use free typed translation for a short passage when camera translation is not part of your selected unlock.
