Rasterdeck Translator — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rasterdeck LLC ("Rasterdeck", "we", "us") handles information in connection with the Rasterdeck Translator Android application (com.rasterdeck.translator, the "App"). It applies only to the App. Other Rasterdeck products and the rasterdeck.com website are covered by their own policies.

Our approach: the App is offline by design

Rasterdeck Translator runs its speech recognition, translation, text recognition (OCR), and speech synthesis entirely on your device. Your spoken audio, camera images, the text you type, and the translations produced are processed locally and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. The App needs the internet only for a few narrow purposes, described below.

Information processed on your device only (not collected by us)

Microphone audio. Captured when you use push-to-talk, transcribed and translated on-device, then discarded. Audio is never transmitted off your device.

Camera images and imported photos. Used for the optional scan-to-translate (OCR) feature. Images are analyzed on-device and are never transmitted off your device.

Text you enter and translations produced. Handled on-device. Your most recent transcript and translation may be stored locally on your device so you can replay them; clearing the App's data removes them. They are not sent to us.

Your settings and language preferences. Stored locally on your device.

Information we collect or transmit

The App sends data over the internet only for these functions:

Downloading translation models. Language and voice models are downloaded (encrypted) from our content-delivery service on first use. These requests include a technical request for the specific model and your device's IP address (inherent to any internet connection). They do not include your audio, images, or translations.

Free-trial protection (a device identifier). To offer one free trial per device and prevent abuse, the App sends a one-way hashed value derived from your Android device ID (ANDROID_ID) to our service, which records it to recognize whether that device has already used its trial. We use this only for trial enforcement and fraud prevention.

App authenticity (Google Play Integrity). Before releasing premium models, the App requests a Google Play Integrity verdict to confirm it is a genuine, unmodified App on a genuine device. This check is performed by Google; see Google's Privacy Policy.

Purchases and redemption codes. If you buy an upgrade, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing; we do not receive or store your card details. The App sends the resulting purchase token (or a redemption code you enter) to our service to verify it and unlock the corresponding feature.

What we do NOT collect

No account. The App has no sign-up or login; we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.

No location data.

No advertising. We do not show ads, use advertising identifiers, or track you across apps or websites.

No analytics profiles. We do not build profiles of your usage, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

App permissions and why they are used

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — to transcribe and translate your speech, on-device.

Camera (CAMERA) — for the optional scan-to-translate (OCR) feature, on-device.

Internet (INTERNET) — to download models and to verify purchases/trial as described above.

You can revoke the microphone and camera permissions at any time in Android Settings; the corresponding features will be unavailable until you grant them again.

Service providers

We use the following providers solely to operate the App on our behalf; they process data only as needed for these functions and not for their own purposes:

Google — Google Play Billing (purchases) and the Google Play Integrity API (app authenticity).

Cloudflare — secure delivery of encrypted models and verification of entitlements; Cloudflare may log request metadata (such as IP address and timestamp) transiently for security and abuse prevention.

Redemption codes purchased on rasterdeck.com are handled under the rasterdeck.com website's own privacy policy and payment processor.

Data security

Network communication uses encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, and the models we deliver are themselves encrypted in transit and at rest in our delivery system. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we handle.

Data retention and deletion

• We do not retain your audio, images, transcripts, or translations — they never leave your device.

• The hashed device identifier used for trial protection is retained for as long as needed to enforce the one-trial-per-device limit and prevent abuse.

• Purchase/redemption records are retained to maintain your entitlements and for support, tax, and audit purposes.

• To request deletion of the limited data associated with your device or purchases, email privacy@rasterdeck.com. Note that the trial identifier is a one-way hash and is not linked to your identity, and that we may retain records required for legal or financial reasons.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through in-app notice.

Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
